What happens when you mix the passion for Rockabilly and Gypsy music with the love for Jazz and Country music? You get a whole new genre called Gypsybilly. THE VIGNATIS have been rockin’ their Gypsybilly creation for seven albums. The aurally and visually colorful Los Angeles-based group’s dynamic performances charter audiences on a journey from nostalgic times to the unknown future. They innovatively fuse American/European traditions, musicianship, and a sense of humor cleverly expressed in their songs. “…The Vignatis deliver fabulous vocals on great tunes,” says Music Connection Magazine. A new Vol. 7 was released on September 12, 2024. This album entitled “50/50 Part 2: Gypsybilly Vol. 7” is a sequel to their 2022 “50/50 Part 1: Gypsybilly Vol. 5” concept of half originals and half iconic cover songs, which contains songs from some of the greats like John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, and Nirvana. The unconventional utilization of instruments breaks expectations to new levels. From an electric clarinet emulating emblematic, infamous rhythm guitar lines, to the use of the chords, chromatics, and unpredictable melodies, to unconventional and unexpectedly pleasant uses of rhythms and meters, the original songs and legendary covers exhibit groundbreaking approaches for those seeking innovative, aural fusion of old meets new.          

 

In a pendulum swing of diversity, their 2023 album release “Swing Kiddos Hot Klub de France (Vol. 6)” marked their Franco-American fusion of music and cultures with a nine-song album of children’s music, a pioneering, first of its kind in children’s music. The album focuses on their Gypsy Jazz acoustic side in the style of Django Reinhardt with an introduction to France, the language, food, customs, manners, humor, and even a French Bulldog and his silly antics, all conveying positive messages to empower children.

As prestigious voting members of The Recording Academy and Grammy Awards, THE VIGNATIS have performed at many esteemed events and venues including The Grammy Museum, Emmy Awards Parties, and as the opening support act for renowned bands as well as various stages in France. They recently completed their premier tour in Japan, will be returning in spring 2025, and are working on adding Scandinavia and Austin, Texas to the list. Music is their lifestyle. Their goal is to share Gypsybilly with the world by passing on to others the same joy they receive in creating it. Whether paying homage to their great musical influences or exploring the future, THE VIGNATIS continue to blend the old continent, Europe with the new continent, America from studio to stage.
